This is the detail page behind the short guide to cancelling Resume Genius. It covers where to cancel and what access you keep, how to save your resume first, every price on the US pricing page, the refund promise and the Terms that limit it, and the complaints that come up most.
Free account for downloads. No credit card. No watermark.
Once a cancellation takes effect, Resume Genius keeps your documents viewable but switches off downloading, printing and editing, as of September 2026 (Terms of Use).
SmoothApply imports a PDF, a DOCX file, or a photo of a printed resume and makes it editable again, with free PDF, DOCX, and TXT downloads and no watermark once you create a free account. See the Resume Genius alternative for the full comparison.
Import my resumeResume Genius lists three options on its US pricing page as of September 2026 (pricing).
| Plan | Up-front | Then |
|---|---|---|
| 14-Day Trial | $2.95 for 14 days | $23.95 every four weeks, auto-renews until cancelled |
| Annual | $95.40, shown as $7.95 per month | Charged once for 12 months, auto-renews yearly |
| Free tier | $0 | No recurring charge; downloads limited to TXT |
Resume Genius describes the $23.95 charge as monthly, but it recurs every four weeks, which is 13 charges a year rather than 12.
The trial and annual plans bundle a resume review, a digital resume and US job board access with the builder, which is where the price goes if you only wanted the download (pricing).
On Trustpilot the five-star reviews praise ease of use, support and templates, while the one-star reviews cluster around two themes, as of September 2026 (Trustpilot).
Reviewers describe the $2.95 payment as a one-time fee and the $23.95 charge as a surprise. The renewal is stated on the pricing page, but it arrives four weeks later without a reminder that reviewers noticed (Trustpilot).
The 14-day promise is real, but the Terms tie it to contacting customer service before the trial term ends. Requests after that point are declined as outside the window (Terms of Use).
Cancelling does not delete documents, but it does remove downloading, printing and editing once the term ends. If the file was never downloaded, the only way back in is to pay again (Terms of Use).
If you only ever needed one resume, SmoothApply is a free resume builder with unlimited PDF and DOCX downloads and no watermark. All 93 templates are on the free plan, and a free account is all it takes to download. The only paid extra is unlimited AI writing, which never touches the download button.
