LiveCareer Pricing: What It Costs, What You Get Back, and How to Switch

This is the detail page behind our LiveCareer alternative comparison. Everything below was read from livecareer.com on September 3, 2026 and is linked to its source. If you only want the short version: the free plan downloads TXT only, and the $2.95 trial lasts 14 days and then renews at $23.95 every four weeks until cancelled.

What LiveCareer actually charges

As of September 2026, the US pricing page lists three tiers. Basic Access is free: unlimited resumes and cover letters, the ATS Resume Checker, and TXT downloads. The pricing FAQ confirms "you can only download your resume in TXT file format" (livecareer.com/pricing).

14-Day Premium Access costs $2.95 and unlocks everything, including unlimited PDF and Word downloads and the template gallery. The plan card reads: "After 14 days, auto-renews at $23.95, billed every four weeks." LiveCareer calls it a monthly subscription, but its billing FAQ says "you will be billed every four weeks from the date of your initial purchase," which comes to 13 charges in a 52-week year rather than 12 (livecareer.com/pricing, as of September 2026).

Annual Premium Access is $71.40 paid up-front, advertised as $5.95 per month, and it auto-renews each year. No lifetime or one-time purchase is listed as of September 2026 (livecareer.com/pricing).

Refunds are narrow. The trial has a 14-day money-back guarantee, the Terms of Use allow a refund request only if you cancel before the end of the initial period, and the FAQ adds that "LiveCareer cannot guarantee a refund in all cases." No refund terms for the renewals or the annual charge appear on the pages we read. After cancelling, you can still view and edit your documents but "will not be able to print, download or share unless you have an active Subscription" (Terms of Use, FAQ, as of September 2026).

The review sites tell the same story. Trustpilot shows a TrustScore of 4.3 from 23,402 reviews as of September 2026, with 19% one-star, mostly about the $23.95 charge after the trial and the builder being presented as free until the download step (Trustpilot). The Better Business Bureau profile for Bold LLC, which lists Livecareer.com, Zety LLC, and Myperfectresume.com as alternate business names and holds an A+ rating, shows 247 complaints closed in the last three years as of September 2026, mostly about recurring charges (BBB). Prices differ by country. A Wayback capture of the UK site from August 26, 2026 shows £1.95 for 14 days, then £19.85 every four weeks (livecareer.co.uk/pricing). This page uses US figures.

How to switch in 10 minutes

  1. Get your content out first. If you have an active subscription, download PDF and Word copies before it ends: as of September 2026 the Terms of Use say saved documents stay editable after cancelling but cannot be printed, downloaded, or shared without a subscription (Terms of Use). On the free plan, download the TXT file. It has no formatting, but it holds every word you wrote.
  2. Import it. Open the importer and upload the PDF or DOCX; the builder reads your sections into an editable resume. If all you have is TXT, paste it into the inline editor section by section.
  3. Or rebuild from an example. Pick an occupation example and overwrite it with your own details.
  4. Pick a template and download. Choose any of the 93 templates, create a free account, and download PDF or DOCX. No watermark, no upgrade screen.
  5. Cancel LiveCareer if you were paying. Settings, then Subscription, then Cancel Subscription, then keep the email with the cancellation number. Full steps, including phone, email, and chat: how to cancel LiveCareer.

When LiveCareer may still be the better fit

You want their pre-written content for two weeks

Full access for $2.95 over 14 days is a fair deal if you set a reminder to cancel. Reddit commenters have recommended exactly that: pay, finish the resume, cancel right away (r/cybersecurity, 2022).

You want a year of AI help with phone support

The annual plan is $71.40 up-front as of September 2026, with phone, email, and live chat support (pricing page). SmoothApply's paid plan is monthly only and costs more over twelve months.

You want a second ATS opinion

ResumeCheck is free on every plan and checks for over 30 common errors as of September 2026 (FAQ). Ours runs an 11-point scan. Both are free, so run both.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download my LiveCareer resume as a PDF for free?
No. As of September 2026, the free plan downloads TXT only, and the pricing page says PDF and Word downloads need an active trial or paid plan. For a free PDF, paste the TXT contents into SmoothApply, or import a PDF or DOCX copy if you saved one during a trial, then download PDF or DOCX with no watermark.
What is the best free alternative to LiveCareer?
It depends on what you used LiveCareer for. If you want PDF and DOCX downloads that are free, unwatermarked, and unlimited, SmoothApply is built for that: all 90+ templates, the cover letter builder, and the job tracker are free, and the paid plan only adds unlimited AI. If what you really want is LiveCareer's ready-made content, the $2.95 trial is still the cheapest way to get it, as long as you cancel within 14 days.
